This project was thought up by two young architects completely unknown by the public, one English, Richard Rogers, and an Italian, Renzo Piano, who sent it as a joke with no idea that this could have happened. The collections are exhibited on a six month rotation basis. Step 4: After the security check, skip the long ticket purchase line and walk straight to the museum. The rest of the building is completely empty and allows for the building to become a huge temporary exhibition which offers the continual freedom to invent new configurations of the space as needed. But for us just getting a Museum Pass would have been better.

Non-exchangeable and non-refundable ticket There are security controls in place at the museum entrance as part of the Vigipirate national security system, which may mean that admission wait times are longer than usual. Masterful ensembles let you see the span of Matisse's career on canvas and in bronze, the variety of Picasso's invention, and the development of cubic orphism by Sonia and Robert Delaunay. It was however from their fertile imagination, that some years later, a monument inspired by oil rigs and science fiction comics was created, built with a supple, mobile and light architecture. Level 5 is devoted to modern art from toincluding major works by Matisse, Modigliani, Marcel Duchamp, and Picasso; Level 4 is dedicated to contemporary art from the '60s on, including video installations. We made less use of the transport than I expected. Its more than 59, works cover a broad spectrum of twentieth-century arts.

The museum has one of the most important collections of modern art. It was useful at The Louvre. Georges-Pompidou, 4th arrond. Paris metro : Chatelet les Halles and Rambuteau stations. Non-exchangeable and non-refundable ticket There are security controls in place at the museum entrance as part of the Vigipirate national security system, which may mean that admission wait times are longer than usual.

The pass worked flawlessly at several museums, and this was the main reason we purchased it. There are three ways of booking tickets for Centre Pompidou — 1. This small, airy museum contains four rooms reconstituting Brancusi's Montparnasse studios with works from all periods of his career.

This website is not directly affiliated with the Paris Tickets. Sorry but this experience is sold out for that day. The 4th floor contains works from to and covers art movements such as fauvism, abstract art, surrealism and cubist art.

After a two-year revamp, the centre reopened in with an enlarged museum, renewed performance spaces, vista-rich Georges restaurant and a mission to get back to the stimulating interdisciplinary mix of old.

They can enter the Museum for free. Believe it or not, President Pompidou searched far and wide to find an architect. The ticket 14 euros is valid for the temporary exhibitions and the National Museum of Modern Art.

The then-unknown Italo-British architectural duo of Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers won the competition with their 'inside-out' boilerhouse approach, which put air-conditioning, pipes, lifts and the escalators on the outside, leaving an adaptable space within. The Pompidou's permanent collection takes up a relatively small amount of the space when you consider this massive building's other features: temporary exhibition galleries, with a special wing for design and architecture; a highly regarded free reference library there's often a queue of university students on Rue Renard waiting to get in ; and the basement, which includes two cinemas, a theater, a dance space, and a small, free exhibition space.

Georges-Pompidou, 4th arrond. Behind its metal structure and striking coloured pipes, the Centre Pompidou contains six floors, with areas dedicated to modern and contemporary art, live performance, cinema, the spoken word and young audiences.

The George Pompidou Centre in just a few words The George Pompidou Centre welcomes over 25, visitors each day, making it one of the three most visited monuments in Paris, along with the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. On level five, the historic section takes a chronological sweep through the history of modern art, via Primitivism, Fauvism, Cubism, Dadaism and Surrealism up to American Color-Field painting and Abstract Expressionism.

While there is no waiting time here, we feel this option is still tiresome. Whilst we did not get priority at Versailles.

The good news is, Pompidou tickets are free on the first Sunday of each month. For more information, read our privacy statement. On the top floor of Centre Pompidou, the expensive Georges restaurant has a great Paris view.
